We start early in the morning by private car. To the old volcano Hohentwiel. The impressive fortress was destroyed by Napoleon beginning of the 18th century and was Germany's biggest fortress. It is located on top of the mountain (696 m). We need to decide if we climb it from the foot (about 450 m) or from the restaurant at the middle of it. For the fortress good shoes are recommended especially the way down is sometime a bit slippery. From top of the mountain you often have a very nice view to Lake of Constance and the Swiss Alpes. On our way back we can have lunch a the mountain restaurant. For the afternoon there will be enough time we can spend at Gailingen beach.
